President's Letter

January 2020

2020 Vision

When you think of 2020 what do you think about? Another year gone… Wow how time flies…  A new start… Excited for what the future holds? What can I do different to better myself and those around me?

I think of hindsight, or our past of which I am truly indebted. But more so I think about our future, our reason of being, our precious time, and better yet our vision of what’s to become. I’ve traveled the road with all of you throughout the past decade on your board with one sight in mind, not just to be your president but to give back what has been given to me. A phrase I’ve heard a lot over the years, and I sit here and put my thoughts into words I can’t even count the ways the chapter has made my life, my career better, but I will tell you one. It’s the people I’ve met, worked with and for, the people I’ve learned from and mentored along the way. I’m honored to be in such a position as I look back at the list of chefs who graciously served our chapter not only as President but all the board chairs. A chapter cannot succeed 90 years without passion, dedication and a clear vision from individuals who desired something more out of their careers.  I am just as eager to work and learn with the amazing chefs that are selflessly serving on your 2020 board.

I mentioned above our precious time, something I truly value and respect, not only mine but yours. Chef Chris said it best “Time, the new currency, how are you going to spend it?”  With the new calendar ahead, time is something that I and the board will keep in mind. We will pick up where we left off from the great leadership of Chris Desens and continue to do our very best for you. January has two great events to not miss, the CMAA winter social hosted by Missouri Athletic club West on January 12th and our Annual Mardi Gras event on January 26th  at Andrea’s South, both events are sure to quench your thirst and please you pallets. With the busy holiday season behind us I hope you are able to join us, share your stories and be a part of something more. Be sure to follow us on our website and our Social media accounts Facebook and Twitter to keep up with all the happenings in the chapter.

Lastly I want to thank Chris Desens for not only the past two years as our President but for all he has done for our community and will continue to do.  I think each and every one of us has been impacted by his humble knowledge, selfless time, his ever open ear, and his ever so polite, choice words, and for that we are grateful. It has been a true pleasure to work alongside with him again, as I have learned so much, and for that I am thankful.

I look forward to seeing you around the tables throughout the year.

Here’s to the vision of 2020.

Dan Holtgrave,
President
